I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Undergroup PR showroom to have a little chat with the incredibly lovely Australian designer Amy Kaehne, and to view her too-cute-for-words Spring/Summer 2012-2013 collection. Think of light diamond knits, draped hemlines and intricate eagle prints.

Describe Amy Kaehne.
Amy Kaehne is relaxed and uncomplicated.

Do you design the clothing with your own personal style and tastes in mind or is it a different aesthetic?
I am a very relaxed dresser but at the same time, I wouldn’t describe my style as conservative. My own style definitely influences my designs as I always create pieces that I would want to wear. Ultimately, I love an outfit that exudes effortlessness and I think that really comes through in Amy Kaehne.

Where do you draw your inspiration from for each collection?
I draw inspiration from anything and everything: colours, textures, movies, music and emotions.

Which is your favourite piece from the current collection and why?
My absolute favourite would be the street pants and shirt combination, as I love wearing ivory and cream together to create a soft look. I also love the summer knits as they are made from Italian organic cottons and Egyptian silks. The New Mexico maxi in ivory is also a favourite as it reminds me of The Virgin Suicides.

And finally, how did you create your stunning logo?
My Husband & I were in Vietnam (Hanoi) and we had discovered an amazing stamp carver who had a street stall where he would carve intricate wooden stamps by hand! So we sat down at a cafĂ© close by and started sketching logos. We got this amazing craftsman to create a stamp from the logo we created from my own handwriting.

The entire collection can be found here and will be soon available to purchase right here. If you're impatient like me and also love winter clothing like me (wow, twinsies right?) then I suggest you check out the winter sale stock and hey, while you're there, care to pop this baby in your cart for me? I'm a size 8 if anyone is wondering.
